Cookie Policy

Last updated October 11, 2026

This page lists every cookie and every item of browser storage the site uses, including the advertising cookies Google sets through AdSense and the statistics cookies of Google Analytics on the public pages.

Cookie settings

Cookies

  • shabat_page — proves that a request for data comes from a page this site served, so the city data cannot be pulled by other sites and bots. Set on every page. Lasts 12 hours.
  • shabat_session — keeps you signed in to the platform. Set only when you sign in. Lasts 7 days, or until you sign out.
  • shabat_google_state — ties Google’s answer to the sign-in you started, which protects the sign-in from forgery. Set only while you sign in. Lasts 10 minutes.

All three are first-party cookies that scripts on the page cannot read, sent only to isshabat.info and only over HTTPS.

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)

  • Cookies such as __gads, __gpi, IDE and test_cookie — set by Google to show ads and to measure and limit how often you see the same one. Which ones are set, and for how long, is decided by Google and can change.

These are third-party cookies, governed by Google’s own cookie and privacy policies rather than ours. You can see and limit ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.

Statistics cookies (Google Analytics)

  • _ga — a random number that tells one browser’s visits apart from another’s. Lasts 2 years.
  • _ga_ followed by the site’s analytics ID — keeps track of the current visit. Lasts 2 years.

Both are first-party cookies, set on isshabat.info by the Google Analytics script; what they help collect goes to Google, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Browser storage

Some choices are remembered in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and is not sent to us automatically.

  • shabat-language — the language you read in.
  • shabat-theme — light, dark, or following the sun.
  • shabat-clock — 24-hour or 12-hour time.
  • shabat-city — the city you picked.
  • shabat-place — the city guessed from your time zone, when you have not picked one.
  • shabat-activity-year — which view of the activity calendar you last opened.
  • shabat-consent — your answer to the cookie banner and when you gave it, so it is not asked again for 12 months.

Consent

shabat_page, shabat_session, shabat_google_state and everything in browser storage are either strictly necessary for something you asked for — the pages, signing in — or only remember a choice you made. Under the EU ePrivacy rules and similar laws, such storage needs no consent.

Google’s advertising and statistics cookies, above, are different: such laws expect consent before they are set. A visitor whose device is set to a time zone in the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or that reports none, is first asked in a banner at the bottom of the page, and neither AdSense nor Google Analytics loads until they agree. Elsewhere both run by default.

Anyone can accept, refuse or change their choice at any time under “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page or at the top of this one. Refusing takes one click, as accepting does, and the site works the same either way. Taking consent back removes the Google Analytics cookies. A choice stands for 12 months; after that the banner asks again.

Other services

  • Google sign-in: when you sign in, you briefly go to Google’s own pages, which use Google’s cookies under Google’s policies.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies and site data in your browser’s settings. Blocking shabat_page stops city lookups from working, blocking shabat_session makes signing in impossible, clearing local storage resets your language, theme and city, and blocking third-party cookies (or opting out at adssettings.google.com) stops Google’s advertising cookies without affecting the rest of the site.
