Terms of Service
Last updated October 11, 2026
These terms govern your use of isshabat.info — the public pages and the platform behind Google sign-in. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
What the site is
isshabat.info is a free, light-hearted site: a countdown to Shabbat, candle-lighting and havdalah times for cities around the world, the dates of Jewish holidays, and a platform where signed-in readers keep a pixel character, play short minigames and collect virtual shekels.
The times are for information
Shabbat and holiday times are calculated from astronomical sunset with fixed offsets — for example, candles 18 minutes before sunset. They may differ from your community’s custom, from a local calendar or from a rabbinic ruling, and can be off because of terrain, altitude or errors in the data. For religious observance, follow your community and your rabbi. We are not responsible for decisions made on the strength of these times.
Humour
The site uses self-irony, cultural memes and absurd humour. It does not aim to demean anyone for their ethnicity or religion, and historical tragedies are never jokes or game mechanics. The page on cultural context explains where the line is.
Your account
- You need a Google account to use the platform, and you must be old enough to use one and to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 13.
- One account per person. Keep your Google account secure: whatever is done with a session signed in as you counts as done by you.
- You may stop using the platform at any time and ask us to delete your account, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Virtual shekels and items
Shekels (₪) on the platform are a virtual game currency. They are not money and have no monetary value. They cannot be bought for money, sold, transferred to another person, withdrawn or exchanged for money, goods or services. Items bought with them are cosmetic and exist only inside the game.
Slots, pachinko and blackjack are played with virtual shekels only. Nothing of real value can be staked or won, so they are not gambling. Rules, odds and payouts are shown in each game, and results are decided by our server.
We may change prices, rewards, daily limits and odds, correct balances affected by errors or abuse, or close the game. Because shekels and items have no monetary value, no compensation is owed for such changes.
What is not allowed
- Automated access: scripts, bots, scraping or bulk downloading of pages or of the city data.
- Getting around the site’s security, rate limits or page tokens, or attacking or overloading the servers.
- Exploiting bugs to gain shekels, items or achievements. If you find one, please tell us instead.
- Impersonating other people, or using the site for anything unlawful.
We may limit, suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, and reset any progress gained by breaking them.
Content and data
The site’s design, drawings, texts and code belong to its authors. You are welcome to share links and to quote short passages with a link back. City names and coordinates come from GeoNames, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.
No warranty
The site is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or accurate, and we may change, pause or end any part of it.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost game progress, or for anything resulting from reliance on the times shown. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it. If a change matters, we will say so on the site before it applies. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new terms.
