About the holiday
The exodus from Egypt is retold every year at a table rather than from a lectern: the seder is built as a run of questions, and the youngest person present asks them. For eight days nothing leavened is eaten, and the house is cleared of it beforehand, which is where the spring cleaning comes from. Matzah is the bread of a departure too rushed to let dough rise.
