About the holiday

Both Temples are said to have been destroyed on the ninth of Av, six centuries apart, and the date gathered other catastrophes around it afterwards. It is a full fast and the year’s saddest day: Lamentations is read by low light, sitting on the floor or on low stools, and the greetings people exchange on any other day are left unsaid. The three weeks before it build towards it.
